— Francona. Terry Francona leaves Red Sox, article by Joe McDonald of ESPN.com. Francona wins two World Series titles for the Red Sox in eight years. Wins 90 games this year, and is now out the door. Can you imagine if Gardenhire was held to those standards?
— MLB Playoffs. The Rays upset the Rangers in Game 1 winning 9-0. The Tigers and Yankees game was suspended after an inning and a half due to rain. National League games tonight along with continued Yankees/Tigers game.
— Vikings Stadium. 3rd Viking Stadium Proposal Emerges. Interesting location on this one. Expect this proposal to get some play, and then expect another Metrodome proposal to come out as well. Vikings will remain focused on Arden Hills plan. Viking fans would no doubt just want a stadium somewhere in Minnesota.
— Gophers Football. “The two new coaches for Michigan and Minnesota have their programs moving in opposite directions at their first meeting”. Things don’t look good for the Gophers in this one. Some key injuries, a coach dealing with health problems plus a hot Michigan team with an explosive player. We’ll see what happens.
— High School Football. Wayzata Rules on the Bay. Star Tribune does a great job of covering high school sports, and Brian Stensaas of the Star Tribune even does live chat during the game. John Milea is worth a follow on Twitter for scores. Metro score roundup here.
— Minnesota Twins. “Goodbye or See you Later?” Phil Mackey of espn1500.com talks about the Free Agent fates of the Twins. Some big decisions for the Twins no doubt.
— Marcus Sherels. “Bigger more confident Sherels coming into his own”. Tom Pelissero of espn1500.com covers Sherels, the former Gopher now Viking. Sherels has done a nice job for the Vikings, and been one of their lonely bright spots.
— Stat of the day. The Bodog Sportsbook released odds on how many times the Vikings will blow a double-digit lead the rest of the season (over/under 1½) and whether they do it on Sunday at Kansas City (no is favored at -1,200, yes at +650). (source: Pelissero article above). Hard not to take yes right now isn’t it?
— Video Clip of the Day. See if you remember this game. 2003. Gophers up 21 on Michigan in the Dome. Lose 38-35.
— Tweet of the Day.
Bernard Berrian has one catch this season. He says that’s not his fault. So whose fault is it?
